Twin Paths to Thacker Pass: Noah and Parker Glenn spend a summer learning together

For twin brothers Noah and Parker Glenn, this summer at Thacker Pass has been a rare opportunity to learn the business of building, together, at the largest lithium project in North America.
Noah, a junior studying finance, and Parker, a junior studying business management, both attend the University of Arizona. They joined Bechtel’s team as a Project Controls Intern and Project Controls Engineering Intern respectively based at Thacker Pass in June. The experience in the Project Controls department gave them a front-row seat to the planning, cost tracking, forecasting, and day-to-day discipline required to move a project of this scale forward.
Learning the numbers behind building the largest lithium project in North America
For Noah, the experience connected directly to his interest in finance. “Seeing the cost, the forecasting… it’s really a great experience to see how planned out everything is and to see how important money is.” he said. “Every cent matters, everything’s tracked.”
But the spreadsheets required a shift in perspective: “On the Excel spreadsheets, 100 doesn’t mean 100. It means 100 million. It was crazy to get used to.”
Parker said one of his strongest first impressions was the support around them. “The people we work with are super caring here,” he said.They really want you to learn.”
The summer also gave Noah a deeper appreciation for the people behind the work. “I feel like it’s understated how much effort and time it takes to make a project like this come to life,” he said. “And especially the craft workers coming out here six days a weekworking as hard as they can, and safely, in this hot sun. It’s not easy work.”
A shared opportunity that “just happened”
The fact that Noah and Parker landed at the same project was not carefully planned. As Noah put it, “It just happened!”
“We interviewed,” Parker said, “and Noah gets the offer text and an email, but I didn’t check mine. But then I looked and I’m like, ‘I got it too!’”
From there, the opportunity became something they could share. “We were like, this is amazing,” Noah said. “This is a great opportunity. We’re going to go learn there together.”
Both working in Project Controls has made the experience even more valuable. “He has a question on one thing, I can help him out,” Noah said. “Or if I’m struggling somewhere, I can ask him. So it’s been a great experience.”
Fraternal twins, familiar double takes
Noah and Parker are fraternal twins, not identical, but that has not stopped people from trying to spot the resemblance.
“They’re shocked,” Parker said. “Some people will say, OK, I see it. But others will look at him, and look at me…”
“When people see the last names, they begin to suspect,” Noah said.
And, typical of twins, they carry the same backpack.
Their parents are happy about the shared experience, too. “They’re excited,” Parker said. “And they’re happy that we’re both somewhere where we’re getting free room, free food…”
“Yeah, grocery bill’s loving it. Car bill’s loving it,” Noah said, picking up the sentence, referring to the Thacker Pass Workforce Hub. The Workforce Hub is a nearly 2,000-room accommodation and dining complex for the project construction workforce, including Bechtel, Bechtel craft, LAC, Target Hospitality staff and CBI staff/craft.
As their internship winds down, Noah and Parker leave Thacker Pass with hands-on exposure to a multi-billion-dollar project, a better understanding of what it takes to build at this scale, and a summer experience few siblings get to share, learning side by side on a project that will help shape the future of U.S. lithium production.
